Guides

Answers to the questions we are asked most — with figures, not vague advice. Every guide rests on the same calculation model as the comparison.

How much can I borrow?Banks work from what you have left once everything else is paid. Here is how they do it — and how to check before you apply. Read the guide Effective rate versus nominal — what you actually payTwo loans at the same rate can differ by thousands. The difference is in the fees, and only one of the figures shows them. Read the guide Consolidating debt without paying moreA consolidation loan almost always lowers the monthly cost. That is not the same as making it cheaper. Read the guide Borrowing with a betalningsanmärkningA default does not close every door. It makes the loan dearer and the choice narrower — and some lenders will still consider you. Read the guide If you cannot payHow bad it gets depends on how early you make contact. Here is the order things happen in, and what you can do at each step. Read the guide Negotiating your mortgage rateThe list rate is the shop window. The average rate is what the bank's customers actually pay, and the gap is your negotiating margin. Read the guide

Representative example: An annuity loan of SEK 150,000 over 5 years at 8.90 % nominal, with an arrangement fee of SEK 0 and an invoice fee of SEK 0, gives an effective rate of 9.27 %. Total repayable SEK 186,389 across 60 monthly payments of SEK 3,106. Calculated 2 September 2026. The rate is variable and set individually after a credit assessment.

Borrowing money costs money — borrowing money costs money. If you cannot pay on time you risk a betalningsanmärkning and enforcement through Kronofogden. Never borrow for spending you can postpone. If you need help, your municipality offers free budget and debt advice.

Advertising disclosure and independence: Kreddo is not a lender and not a credit broker, but an information and comparison service. We do not pass on applications and do not collect personal data for credit assessment. We receive payment from some lenders when a visitor signs an agreement through our links, which are marked with rel="sponsored". That payment does not affect the ranking.

Disclaimer: Rates, fees and terms change continuously. We check the figures regularly but cannot guarantee they are correct at every moment — always check against the lender's own terms and SEKKI sheet before you sign. The content is general information, not individual financial advice.
